We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Cloud Specialist to join our team and play a critical role in ensuring the availability, scalability, security, and efficiency of our infrastructure and cloud systems.


Job Summary:

The Infrastructure Cloud Specialist will be responsible for designing and implementing infrastructure and cloud environments, ensuring seamless integration and operation of on-premises and cloud platforms. The role requires a proactive approach to maintaining availability, optimizing performance, and securing the organization’s systems under the guidance of the Technology and Infrastructure Lead.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement infrastructure solutions, including servers, storage systems, networking components, and other resources, in accordance with organizational requirements and standards.
  • Create detailed infrastructure design documentation, including network diagrams and system architecture specifications.
  • Provision and configure cloud resources (e.g., virtual machines, storage, networking components) based on organizational needs, ensuring proper resource allocation, network connectivity, and security configurations.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and management using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Set up monitoring and alerting systems (e.g., Nagios, Prometheus, cloud-native monitoring) to track the health, performance, and availability of infrastructure resources.
  • Implement regular backups, replication, and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize network configurations, and implement scaling strategies.
  • Enforce security best practices, including firewalls, access controls, encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for infrastructure-related issues, including root cause analysis and preventive measures.
  • Collaborate with developers, operations teams, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of infrastructure components with applications and services.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles for infrastructure configurations and processes.


Education:

  • A tertiary qualification such as a BSc in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is required.


Experience:

  • At least 5 years of practical experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Demonstrated experience managing on-premises infrastructure, including servers, storage systems, and network devices.


Certifications (Preferred):

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Data Center
  • NetApp Certified Storage Associate
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
  • Google Cloud Certified: Professional Cloud Architect


Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of core cloud services, deployment models, networking, security, and resource management.
  • Expertise in server administration and operating systems, including Linux (Ubuntu, CentOS, Red Hat) and Windows Server.
  • Knowledge of storage technologies (SAN, NAS, object storage) and database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).
  • Proficiency in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, KVM) and containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
  • Familiarity with DevOps and collaboration tools (Git, Jenkins, Jira, Confluence).
  • In-depth understanding of security principles, compliance frameworks, and backup/disaster recovery strategies.
  • Ability to set up and analyze performance monitoring solutions to optimize system efficiency.


Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Infrastructure uptime and availability.
  • Internal customer satisfaction with infrastructure services and support.
  • Efficiency and effectiveness of incident response and resolution.
  • Backup and recovery performance.
  • Proactive response to security incidents.


Role Complexity:

  • Managing infrastructure across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and on-premises environments.
  • Ensuring seamless integration, data synchronization, and consistent security controls across systems.
  • Navigating challenges with legacy systems and ensuring compatibility with modern cloud solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors to align infrastructure initiatives with business goals.
