Job Description:
A globally affiliated courier and logistics operation is seeking a commercially astute Head of Commercial to lead commercial operations across express delivery, freight, logistics, and e-commerce distribution. The role drives revenue growth, pricing strategy, margin optimisation, contract governance, and strategic partnerships while aligning sales, finance, and operations for sustainable profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement commercial strategy aligned to business growth objectives.
- Drive revenue optimisation across courier, freight, logistics, and corporate accounts.
- Identify new business opportunities and strategic partnerships, track profitability metrics.
- Develop pricing frameworks; approve pricing models, discounts, and commercial terms.
- Analyse cost structures to protect and improve margins; maintain competitiveness benchmarking.
- Lead high-value contract negotiations and oversee tender submissions and proposals.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage commercial risk exposure.
- Align Sales, Finance, and Operations to ensure revenue realisation and operational efficiency.
- Conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis; support go-to-market strategies for new services.
- Report to Executive Management on commercial and financial performance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, or related field.
- 8–10 years’ commercial experience.
- Minimum 5 years in a senior management role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- MBA or Commercial Management qualification (advantageous).
- Experience in courier, freight, logistics, supply chain, or transport sector (highly preferred).
- Strong financial and P&L management experience.
Skills:
- Strong commercial and financial acumen; analytical and data-driven decision making.
- Contract negotiation expertise and stakeholder management.
- Strategic leadership capability; results-oriented, performance-driven approach.
Relevant Experience:
- Demonstrated success delivering revenue and margin growth and managing pricing and profitability frameworks.
- Track record in contract acquisition/retention, market share growth, and commercial risk mitigation.
