Job Description:
The Materials Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all construction materials used in the project meet the specified quality standards and project requirements. The role includes conducting material testing, maintaining compliance records, advising on appropriate material selection, and collaborating with project stakeholders to achieve project excellence. The successful candidate will support the delivery of road and infrastructure projects through sound geotechnical and materials engineering expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct laboratory and field tests on construction materials to verify compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all material test results, approvals, and any corrective measures taken.
- Collaborate closely with project engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure quality and performance standards are met.
- Assess, recommend, and approve suitable materials for road construction based on project demands, cost-effectiveness, and technical properties.
- Identify material-related issues early and propose corrective and preventive actions.
- Provide technical guidance and support during construction to optimize material usage and enhance durability.
- Participate actively in site inspections, audits, and evaluations as needed.
- Perform additional assignments as directed to support service delivery requirements.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Civil Engineering) and
- A registered professional engineer,
- Minimum 8 years experience as a geotechnical specialist in 2 or more projects in design of water & sanitation/roads.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and testing skills.
- Knowledge of construction materials (e.g., asphalt, concrete, steel).
- Familiarity with BS, ASTM, or other international material standards.
- Report writing and documentation abilities.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
