Job Description:

Freedom 77 Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced Commercial Manager with a BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering to join a leading infrastructure project team in Namibia. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in construction, with a strong background in commercial management on roads projects across Southern Africa.

Key Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a Commercial Manager role.
• Professional Certifications: Advantageous, particularly for work permit eligibility.
• Geographical Experience: Must have worked in Africa or other Southern African countries as a Commercial Manager.
• International Funding Projects: Experience with World Bank or African Development Bank funded projects is highly desirable.
• Specialisation: Essential – proven commercial management experience on roads projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all commercial aspects of road construction projects from planning to completion.
• Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts, claims, and variations.
• Monitor and control project budgets, costs, and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, statutory, and funding requirements.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and funding bodies.
• Lead risk management, cost control, and value engineering strategies.
• Mentor and guide commercial teams to achieve optimal results.

• Proven financial and cost control management expertise.
• Excellent understanding of road construction commercial requirements.
• Knowledge of international funding compliance processes.
