Job Description:
Train and support users in modern digital embroidery—from safe machine operation to design software and project execution. The role delivers hands-on learning, develops training materials, mentors startups/students/designers, maintains lab equipment, and nurtures a creative innovation culture within the Digital Innovation Lab (community makerspace).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver training on embroidery machines, software, and design techniques.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for users (students, startups, professionals).
  • Guide participants from concept to finished product; advise on fabric choice, stitch types, and design optimisation.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and ensure safe operation of digital embroidery machines; enforce lab HSE/rules.
  • Create instructional content: user guides, SOPs, tutorials, and course documentation.
  • Organise and promote workshops, events, and collaborative projects in digital embroidery.
  • Support and mentor textile-innovation projects; document best practices and outcomes for community sharing.
  • Collaborate with other innovation labs/makerspaces to exchange knowledge and drive joint initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Fashion, Textile Technology, Industrial/Product Design, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in digital embroidery or textile fabrication.
  • Proficiency operating digital embroidery machines and using digitising software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree (advantageous).
  • Experience with digitising tools such as Wilcom, Hatch, Brother PE-Design; familiarity with open-source design tools.
  • Exposure to training programme design and creative project management.

Skills:

  • Strong autonomy, organisation, and initiative; excellent pedagogy and facilitation.
  • Project management; ability to collaborate with technical experts.
  • Innovation mindset; creativity in textile arts and emerging tech.
  • Clear written & verbal communication; user-centric approach; community building.

Relevant Experience:

  • Delivering instructor-led training and building training materials (SOPs, tutorials, curricula).
  • Managing equipment maintenance and safety compliance in a lab/makerspace.
  • Mentoring startups/students/designers on textile/digital-fabrication projects and documenting results.
