Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced, safety-conscious, and technically competent Site Supervisor / Blaster to oversee daily site operations within a quarrying, drilling, and blasting environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising operational teams, coordinating daily activities, monitoring work progress, and ensuring that blasting-related operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures and applicable regulations.
This position requires an individual with strong practical site experience, excellent leadership abilities, and a thorough understanding of operational safety requirements.
A valid Blasting Licence is mandatory for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate daily site operations to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to established schedules.
- Oversee blasting-related activities within the scope of the incumbent's qualifications, authorisations, and applicable legal requirements.
- Ensure all blasting operations comply with relevant legislation, safety procedures, and company standards.
- Coordinate site personnel, equipment, and resources to achieve operational targets.
- Conduct daily site inspections to identify potential hazards, unsafe conditions, and operational risks.
- Ensure employees follow established health, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Lead daily toolbox talks and communicate operational instructions to site personnel.
- Monitor team productivity and work quality, identifying opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Liaise with management and relevant technical personnel regarding operational requirements and site progress.
- Ensure equipment is used appropriately and report defects, damage, or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain accurate site records, daily activity reports, safety documentation, and operational registers.
- Assist in identifying and addressing operational challenges to minimise disruptions and delays.
- Monitor compliance with company policies, operating procedures, and site-specific requirements.
- Report accidents, incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions through established reporting procedures.
- Provide guidance, support, and supervision to operational staff.
- Perform other lawful and reasonable duties assigned by management.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Blasting Licence – Mandatory.
- Sound understanding of blasting operations and site supervision requirements.
- Knowledge of relevant occupational health and safety procedures.
- Ability to supervise operational personnel and coordinate daily activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certificate or Diploma in Mining, Quarrying, Blasting Operations, Engineering, Supervisory Management, or a related technical field.
- Additional training in occupational health and safety, risk assessment, or site supervision.
- Familiarity with Botswana's Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery legislation and applicable safety requirements.

- Proven practical experience in blasting operations, preferably within a quarrying, mining, or construction environment.
- Demonstrated experience supervising site operations and coordinating operational teams.
- Experience enforcing safety standards and monitoring compliance with established operating procedures.
- Experience managing daily operational schedules, reporting requirements, and workplace safety risks.
- Previous experience in drilling, blasting, aggregate production, or related site-based operations will be an added advantage.
