Job Description:

Freedom 77 Recruitment is seeking a highly experienced Commercial Manager with a BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering to join a leading construction project team in Botswana. This role is ideal for a professional with extensive experience in roads projects, proven commercial leadership, and exposure to major infrastructure initiatives across Southern Africa.

Key Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications: BSc in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering.
• Experience: Minimum 15 years in the construction industry, with at least 5 years in a Commercial Manager role.
• Professional Certifications: Advantageous,
• Geographical Experience: Must have worked in Africa or other Southern African countries as a Commercial Manager.
• Project Experience: Commercial management experience on roads projects is essential.
• International Funding Projects: Experience with World Bank or African Development Bank funded projects is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all commercial aspects of road construction projects from inception to completion.
• Prepare, negotiate, and administer contracts, including claims and variations.
• Monitor and manage project costs, budgets, and financial performance.
• Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, statutory regulations, and funding requirements.
• Provide strategic commercial advice to senior management and project teams.
• Liaise effectively with international funding agencies, clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Lead risk management, cost control, and value engineering initiatives.
• Mentor and guide commercial teams to ensure optimal project delivery.

• In-depth understanding of international funding compliance and reporting.
