Job Description:

A leading construction and infrastructure company is seeking a skilled Asphalt Plant Operator to oversee the automated operations of its asphalt production facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing daily plant functions, operating machinery controlled by PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), and ensuring the production process adheres to strict quality, safety, and environmental standards. This is a technical and hands-on role for a detail-oriented operator with experience in asphalt production.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee daily operations of the asphalt plant, including start-up and shutdown procedures.
• Operate and monitor production equipment including mixers, dryers, conveyors, and a 120 TPH Ammann Apollo Drum Mix Plant.
• Regulate production variables such as temperature, mixing duration, and flow rates through PLC-controlled systems.
• Troubleshoot and adjust PLC programming and hardware to minimize downtime.
• Perform diagnostics and basic repairs on automated and mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams for complex repairs or upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, reporting deviations immediately.
• Maintain accurate logs of production data, inspections, maintenance records, and incident reports.
• Recommend improvements to increase plant efficiency and product quality.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and ensure a clean, safe working environment.
• Execute any additional lawful and reasonable instructions as required by management.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of a Diploma or equivalent.
• Technical training or certification in electrical engineering, industrial automation, or related field is an added advantage.
• Sound knowledge of industrial PLC systems and asphalt plant processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification or hands-on training in asphalt technology or process control.
• Safety and environmental training or certification.

Skills:

• Attention to detail with strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective communication skills with a proactive and safety-conscious mindset.
• Competence in reading technical manuals and interpreting mechanical/PLC system operations.
• Capable of operating in high-noise environments and responding to visual and auditory alerts.

Relevant Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience operating an asphalt production plant, particularly in road construction.
• Solid experience with PLC-controlled systems in industrial environments.
• Proven ability to maintain production quality and uptime while minimizing mechanical interruptions.
