Job Description
Our client in the logistics and transport industry is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Extra Heavy Duty Driver to join their Horse Division based in Gaborone. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, efficient long-haul transport of goods across various SADC regions, ensuring on-time delivery and full compliance with road safety and company operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a heavy goods vehicle safely and efficiently on long-haul and cross-border routes.
- Ensure timely delivery of goods to designated destinations within Botswana and SADC countries.
- Adhere to all road safety regulations, cross-border procedures, and company operational policies.
- Conduct routine vehicle checks, identify faults, and promptly report any defects or breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate trip records, delivery documentation, and communication updates.
- Ensure safe loading, securing, transportation, and offloading of goods.
- Provide excellent customer service and always represent the company in a professional manner.
Minimum Requirements
- 5–10 years’ experience in logistics and cross-border driving.
- Proven experience on regional routes (e.g. Johannesburg, Durban, Namibia and other SADC countries).
- Skilled in using WhatsApp, Google Maps, and basic mobile communication platforms.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good command of English (written and verbal).
Valid and up-to-date documentation:
- Valid Passport.
- Valid Driver’s Licence (appropriate HGV class).
- Valid PRDP Licence – Goods and Hazardous.
- Certificate in Defensive Driving.
- Recent Medicals / Fitness Certificate.
- Recent Police Clearance.
- Reference letters from previous employers.
- Recent payslip (for verification purposes).

- Ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong communication skills and professional conduct.
- High level of responsibility, integrity, and safety awareness.
