Job Description:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage cost planning, contract administration, and financial control of major civil engineering projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil infrastructure and the ability to drive successful project outcomes within tight schedules and budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of quantity surveying across civil engineering projects, focusing on water infrastructure.
  • Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents.
  • Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contract law and insurance requirements.
  • Conduct financial reporting, cost control, and risk assessments.
  • Manage project programming, scheduling, and construction outputs.
  • Ensure adherence to SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) legislation.
  • Apply labour legislation knowledge in project execution.
  • Support business strategy, contract management, commercial and legal compliance.
  • Provide leadership, decision-making, and mentorship within project teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • BSc in Quantity Surveying (QS) or Honours in Quantity Surveying.
  • Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).
  • Registration or membership with the South African Council for the Quantity Surveying Profession (SACQSP) or any other recognized professional body (advantageous).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Special training in Contract Law and Insurance, Construction Methods, Programming, and Scheduling.
  • Knowledge in basic IR (Industrial Relations) and relevant labour legislation.

Skills:

  • Advanced financial reporting and project management skills.
  • Expertise in construction programming and output scheduling.
  • Strong communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to make critical decisions and work effectively within a team.
  • Capacity to perform under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
