Job Description:
The Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) – Mechanical will assist in supervising mechanical construction works, with a focus on water pumping installations and borehole equipping. The ARE will ensure that all mechanical works meet project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise mechanical installation activities, ensuring compliance with designs, specifications, and health and safety regulations.
- Review and verify mechanical designs, equipment specifications, and material submissions.
- Monitor workmanship and material quality during project execution.
- Coordinate with contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely project delivery.
- Conduct site inspections, system testing, and commissioning activities.
- Prepare detailed progress reports and highlight potential risks and recommended mitigation actions.
- Provide technical guidance and support to ensure mechanical systems are installed and functioning optimally.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree (Mechanical Engineering) and
- A registered professional engineer.
- Minimum of 6 years as a mechanical engineer, experience in construction of water pumping installations and borehole equipping in 2 or more projects.
Skills:
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, particularly in water infrastructure projects.
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and technical reporting skills.
- Familiarity with mechanical codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, CIBSE).
- Ability to review mechanical drawings and specifications.
- Site supervision and quality assurance skills.
