Job Description:

Our client owns and operates a prestigious group of five-star city hotels and luxury safari lodges across Botswana. Renowned for exceptional hospitality and unforgettable guest experiences, the group now seeks a visionary Executive Chef (Group Head Chef) to lead and define the culinary identity of the brand. This individual will oversee and elevate culinary operations across all properties by creating innovative menus, introducing cross-cultural fusion dishes, and ensuring the highest standards of excellence throughout the group’s kitchens. The ideal candidate must bring strong French and Italian flair, global adaptability, and expert sommelier skills to deliver world-class food and wine experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all culinary operations across the group’s hotels and lodges.
  • Develop and implement menus showcasing French, Italian, and international cuisines with creative fusion.
  • Inspire, train, and mentor kitchen staff while building a vibrant, motivated team culture.
  • Collaborate with management on food concepts, guest dining experiences, and wine pairings.
  • Ensure international food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Control costs, manage suppliers, and optimize kitchen resources.
  • Represent the culinary excellence of the group regionally and internationally.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years’ international culinary experience, including 5 years as Executive/Head Chef in five-star hotels or luxury resorts.
  • Formal culinary degree/diploma from a recognized institution (e.g., Le Cordon Bleu, Culinary Institute of America, or equivalent).
  • Expertise in French and Italian cuisine, with additional strength in global/fusion cuisine.
  • Certified Sommelier training or advanced wine pairing qualification.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Experience working in multicultural, luxury hospitality environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in African luxury safari lodges is highly desirable.
  • Proven innovation in menu design and food presentation.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse cultures and ingredients.
  • High emotional intelligence and conflict-resolution skills.
