Job Description

A rapidly growing Financial Services Group of Companies with over 16 years of success in microfinance, life insurance, and mobile money, is seeking a visionary Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team in Gaborone.

The CFO will play a pivotal role in shaping the Group’s financial strategy, ensuring operational excellence, financial sustainability, and regulatory compliance while supporting the company’s regional expansion across emerging markets.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and lead the Group’s financial strategy, ensuring alignment with growth objectives across all business units.
• Oversee financial management, reporting, and compliance across all subsidiaries.
• Implement robust risk management and governance frameworks to ensure sustainability and compliance.
• Provide strategic insights and financial analytics to the CEO and Board for decision-making.
• Lead and mentor the finance team, promoting excellence and accountability.
• Support expansion into new products and markets through sound financial planning.
• Champion innovation in financial processes, leveraging technology for efficiency and scalability.

Qualifications, Experience & Skills

• Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (CA) – mandatory.
• Minimum of 10+ years’ senior financial leadership experience, including 5+ years as CFO within financial services, banking, or fintech.
• Proven expertise in financial management, risk management, financial modelling, governance, and business growth.
• Strong commercial acumen with exposure to emerging markets beyond Botswana.
• Experience across credit, banking, insurance, and mobile money sectors.
• Technologically astute with the ability to leverage technology for business improvement.
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience working with boards, regulators, and investors.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of motivating and developing high-performing teams.
• Audit experience advantageous.
