Job Description:
Lead the end-to-end milling function (Intake and three mills) to maximise throughput, extraction, quality, and machine uptime. Own daily production control, people leadership, food-safety and SHE compliance, PRAGMA/CMMS maintenance adherence, SAP back-flush/inventory integrity, and continuous improvement across milling and packing. Partner with Operations on capex execution and the removal of bottlenecks to achieve daily targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage raw-material intake: ensure testing on receipt, correct binning by FIFO, and integrity of all materials used in production.
- Run all mills at optimum extraction, quality, and design capacity; integrate master production schedule and material-requirements planning.
- Enforce SHE/OSHEAS and Food Safety standards in line with company policy and statutory requirements.
- Maintain PRAGMA/CMMS schedules; ensure assets are made available/clean for engineering as per plan.
- Perform daily SAP backflush; monitor and trend milling KPIs; implement Short Interval Control (SIC) to improve output and quality.
- Drive Lean manufacturing and waste-reduction practices (Kaizen/Kanban) across production areas.
- Ensure housekeeping standards in intake and mills meet internal benchmarks.
- Manage environmental and physical risks in line with corporate governance policies.
- Submit annual Work Skills Development (WSD) plan; train and upskill production teams per succession plans.
- Maintain Integrated Pest Management (IPM); coordinate with PCO to resolve problem areas.
- Liaise daily with Laboratory on RM/WIP/FG quality and implement same-day corrective actions.
- Lead monthly stocktakes and operational reporting; investigate and close variances.
- Uphold departmental discipline and manage overhead/expense budgets to prevent overspend.
- Support capex delivery and targeted debottlenecking initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Technical Degree or Advanced Milling qualification.
- Computer literacy (MS Office; exposure to production/maintenance systems).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Training/experience with SCADA/PLC systems and production data analysis.
- FSSC and food-safety systems knowledge; SAP user proficiency.
- Formal Lean/Kaizen certification or demonstrated practice.
Skills:
- Strong management and leadership; planning & organising; analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; team player; assertive decision-making.
Relevant Experience:
- 10+ years’ management experience in grain handling and milling within FMCG.
- Proven track record introducing Lean improvements and overseeing milling/packing automation.
