Job Description:
The Finance Officer will drive budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, and high-quality financial reporting while strengthening internal controls across shared services. The role manages end-to-end bookkeeping, creditors, audit coordination, and stakeholder engagement, and recommends process improvements to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate risk.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead annual budgeting, re-forecasts, and financial plans in collaboration with department heads; support payroll processing.
- Prepare, review, and submit monthly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and internal deadlines.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations, and internal policies; maintain robust financial controls.
- Coordinate internal and external audits, address findings, and implement corrective actions.
- Identify and execute process improvements across shared services to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
- Liaise with auditors, regulators, and senior management; prepare management reports and insights.
- Perform risk assessments and maintain mitigation measures.
- Oversee bookkeeping: general ledgers, reconciliations, and timely, accurate transaction recording.
- Manage creditors: process invoices, reconcile supplier statements, handle discrepancies, and ensure on-time payments.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance (or equivalent).
- Professional registration/certification (e.g., ACCA/CPA/CMA/CIMA/BICA).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced Excel proficiency and experience with financial/ERP systems.
- Demonstrated track record supporting strategic financial decision-making.
Skills:
- Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving ability with sound IFRS knowledge.
- Financial reporting, analysis, and management capability with excellent attention to detail.
- Stakeholder engagement and effective communication across auditors, regulators, and senior leadership.
- Process-improvement mindset; risk and control orientation; advanced proficiency in financial software and MS Excel.
Relevant Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ financial management experience, including reporting, compliance, budgeting/forecasting, and audit coordination.
